The REPAIR Act would eliminate barriers for independent auto body shops
WASHINGTON, D.C. (April 10, 2025) – The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the nation’s leading small business advocacy organization, applauds the U.S. Senate for introducing S. 1379, the Right to Equitable and Professional Auto Industry Repair (REPAIR) Act. This bipartisan proposal would ensure that independent auto repair shops will have access to the same tools, software, and manuals as manufacturers and authorized service centers. The REPAIR Act was introduced in the Senate by Senators Ben Ray Luján (D-NM) and Josh Hawley (R-MO).
“NFIB applauds Senators Luján and Hawley for leading the Senate in introducing this important bipartisan bill,” said Andrea McGee, NFIB Principal of Federal Government Relations. “The REPAIR Act is a much-needed piece of legislation to maintain competition in the automotive industry. Almost 90% of NFIB members voted in support of ‘Right to Repair’ when balloted, making it one of NFIB’s top ten priorities.”
In March, NFIB sent a letter to the U.S. House in support of H.R. 1566 when Rep. Neal Dunn (FL-2) introduced the same bipartisan legislation.
