With the holidays around the corner, it's time to applaud all the hard work that owners have put in this year.
In this month of Thanksgiving, there is much for your NFIB/Washington staff to be grateful for this year. Namely, YOU.
Our members again made “The Voice of Small Business” ring loud and clear in Olympia’s corridors of power. Dozens of you testified before legislative committees, met with key lawmakers and agency officials, spoke with the press, and otherwise carried our message of lower taxes, less regulation and more freedom to own, operate and grow your business to policymakers and the public during the record-long legislative session and in many other gatherings throughout the year.
Mark your calendar for January 27, 2016, and plan to join us for our next Small Business Day at the Capitol. Whether it’s raising the minimum wage, mandating paid leave, hiking B&O taxes, or restricting your healthcare choices, lawmakers need to hear from you! You are the expert on your enterprise. Small Business Day amplifies our message by bringing Main Street to the state capital, in force. These great events feature question-and-answer sessions with key government officials, insider policy briefings, and opportunities to network with other concerned small business owners from around the state. Watch NFIB.com/Washington for more information.
Your state Leadership Council members are our vanguard, speaking out and taking action to protect your small business. Many of them have been profiled in this newsletter. These members are among the first to invite legislators into their businesses to see their operations firsthand. They journey to Olympia to testify, meet with legislators and regulators, and explain how government actions impact their companies and affect their ability to create jobs and grow the economy. They lead our political action committee, which works to elect pro-small-business candidates to office, and support our Young Entrepreneur Foundation scholarship program that is helping educate the next generation of entrepreneurs. And they are looking for more fellow members to join their ranks—members like you.
You, and more than 8,000 of your fellow NFIB members right here in Washington, are the champions and defenders of free enterprise in our state. Thank you for all that you do!
We hope you will continue working with us to protect your rights to own, operate and grow your business, and consider becoming more actively involved by attending Small Business Day or joining the Leadership Council. The “The Voice of Small Business” is stronger because of you.
Happy Thanksgiving.
