Since 2003, YEF has awarded over 2,800 scholarships totaling more than $2.8 million, and outstanding New York State student entrepreneurs have earned top spots among national finalists in recent years.
Why You Should Become Involved with NFIB’s Young Entrepreneur Foundation
One of the highlights of my position at NFIB is serving as a nominator for the Young Entrepreneur Foundation (YEF) scholarships, which honor students that have demonstrated hard work and commitment to achieve small business success. These awards go toward helping graduating high school seniors continue to operate their business while enrolled in college.
Since 2003, YEF has awarded over 2,800 scholarships totaling more than $2.8 million, and outstanding New York State student entrepreneurs have earned top spots among national finalists in recent years. I’m proud that LeiLei Secor from Albany, New York won the “2014 NFIB Young Entrepreneur of the Year,” and Joey Hamilton from Lancaster, New York, was one of five national finalists in 2015. NFIB New York, again this year, aims to help fund scholarships for deserving young entrepreneurs through contributions from generous NFIB small business owners.
Please consider showing your commitment to the ideals of private enterprise and entrepreneurship and help a student from New York State by making a donation to YEF. Each scholarship is $1,000 but donations of any amount are appreciated. All donations are tax deductible and easily can be made online. If you are interested in interviewing a student and helping select a winner for an award, please complete the nominator application.
As always, thank you for your valued membership and your help in supporting the next generation of business owners in New York State.
