NFIB anchors backing in voting records, questionnaires, and interviews
DENVER, Aug. 4, 2020—The political action committee for Colorado’s leading small-business association today announced its endorsements for House and Senate seats in the Colorado General Assembly.
In all, 34 incumbents, challengers, and candidates running in open seats earned small businesses’ backing for their campaign. The endorsements were made by the NFIB Colorado PAC. The endorsement process is very strict, relying on the cumulative voting record of sitting legislators and candidate questionnaires of those running for first-time office, and in some cases requiring a candidate submit to an interview. Incumbent legislators must achieve a voting record of at least 70 percent to be eligible for an endorsement from the nation’s oldest and largest small and independent business association.
“The NFIB endorsements clearly indicate which legislators truly believe in and support small businesses and those who simply talk a good game,” said Colorado State Director Tony Gagliardi. “We do our best to work with both sides of the aisle and to support all legislators. Simply running an amendment or having a conversation with a lobbyist is not going to get one of our endorsements. I will give credit to Sen. Chris Hansen and Reps. Leslie Herod and Tracy Kraft-Tharp who were very open to working with NFIB on key amendments and issues however short they may have come up in their overall voting records. Our voting record is based entirely on results, often harsh but always fair.”
