In a conversation with Simon Conway, NFIB State Director Matt Everson discussed the findings of the latest Small Business Economic Trends (SBET) report and gave an update on what lawmakers are working on at the statehouse.
“Small business is what drives our economy, not just locally but nationally. and the more small businesses that you have thriving, the better the economy is going to be,” said Everson.
While highlighting the findings of the SBET report, Everson warned that inflation continues to seriously affect small business owners.
Everson also mentioned the possible expiration of the 20% small business deduction in 2025 and how small businesses need that tax cut to be made permanent. He added that property taxes are another major issue for small business owners. Everson touted the Iowa General Assembly’s continued efforts to lower taxes for Iowans to compensate for the burdensome federal policies impacting Main Street.
