Annapolis (May 28, 2014) – The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), representing thousands of small businesses in Maryland, today endorsed seven candidates for State Senate and 22 candidates for Assembly.
“This is a great crop of legislators who have perfect voting records on the issues that affect small business owners in Maryland,” said NFIB Regional Public Policy Director Tim Goodrich. “Maryland is a difficult state for small business owners and it’s important for our members to have advocates in the Legislature whose appreciation for small business owners is matched by solid voting records.”
NFIB asks its members to identify the key issues in every state and then tracks lawmakers’ votes. Legislators who vote with NFIB members on at least 70 percent of the issues can be endorsed by the organization. This session seven State Senators and 22 members of the Assembly earned perfect 100 percent scores.
“We can’t ask for stronger allies than that,” said Goodrich. “These are highly principled, highly consistent lawmakers and we’re proud to endorse them. Our goal is to have a majority of members in the Maryland Legislature who understand the importance of small business and who are willing to make the tough votes when it counts.”
