BISMARCK, N.D., Jan. 2, 2019—The nation’s leading small-business association today announced Alison Ritter of Odney will serve as the new state director for North Dakota. Ritter steps into the role of state director after the unexpected passing of Rae Ann Kelsch in October. Kelsch was well known and respected in the government relations community.
“Alison Ritter and the team at Odney have the right combination of legislative advocacy, public relations, and public affairs experience that will get the job done for NFIB,” said Tim Goodrich, state government relations executive director for NFIB. “The NFIB family is saddened by the sudden loss of Rae Ann, but we’re confident in the ability of Alison and the Odney team to build on Rae Ann’s successes.”
Founded in 1985, Odney is a full-service communications agency that provides a strong history of public relations and public affairs experience. Alison will work directly with the public affairs team of Shane Goettle, Don Larson, and Lacee Bjork-Anderson to provide effective government relations, media, and issue management to effectively represent and advocate on behalf of small businesses.
A native of Iowa, Alison has a wide variety of communications experience. Prior to her role as Senior Public Relations Specialist at Odney, she served as the public information officer for the agency that regulates one of the largest industries in the state. She also spent nearly a decade working many sides of television news.
“I can’t wait to get to work advocating for small businesses of North Dakota,” said Ritter. “To me, the legislative session is one of the most exciting experiences that goes on in our state. I very much enjoy being part of the legislative process and I’m thrilled I get to do so on behalf of NFIB and its members.”
