“Our small business members throughout the state say inflation is hurting them and their customers,” Brown said. “The upcoming sales tax holiday will boost local businesses and offer customers a great opportunity to save money.”

This year’s tax-free weekend comes as small businesses and shoppers alike are contending with rising prices. The latest NFIB Small Business Optimism Index shows rising prices remain the No. 1 challenge for Main Street businesses.

“Small business is the backbone of Tennessee’s economy, but they have faced significant challenges this year as inflation has driven up prices across the board,” Brown said. “Shopping at small, independent businesses will support our friends and neighbors and help our communities remain strong.”
