Tom Scott,
NFIB/CA State Director issued the following statement today on the passage
of Assembly Bill 465 by the State Senate.
“NFIB/CA is disappointed in the outcome of yesterday’s
Senate vote on Assembly Bill 465 by Assemblyman Hernandez. Once again, big
labor and trial lawyers have won at the expense of small businesses. AB 465
will only drive up costs and encourage litigation against businesses of all
sizes. Unfortunately, small businesses will be hit the hardest and will have to
spend valuable resources on attorney’s fees to defend themselves.”
“AB 465 directly contradicts with recent rulings by both the
California and United States Supreme courts, making this bill unnecessary and open
to legal challenges, costing the state even more money.”
“Small business owners are grateful for the Republican
members of the Senate, who along with Senator Steve Glazer voted ‘no’ on this
job killer. We urge the State Assembly to vote ‘no’ on this flawed
legislation.”
