OLYMPIA, Wash., Oct. 7, 2024—Dave Reichert is small businesses’ choice for governor of Washington, it was announced today by the political action committee for the state’s largest association of Main Street business owners.

“After 44 years of single-party control of the governor’s mansion, Washingtonians deserve a real change. This is why Main Street, mom-and-pop enterprises are so enthusiastic about Dave Reichert,” said Patrick Connor, state director for the National Federation of Independent Business, speaking for the NFIB WA PAC, which made the endorsement of Reichert for governor.

In Congress, Reichert served on the Ways & Means Committee and as chairman of the Tax, Human Resources, and Trade subcommittees. He was also a recipient of multiple NFIB Guardian of Small Business awards during his time in Congress. His background in law enforcement is a bonus in dealing with such small business issues as retail theft.

Among Reichert’s priorities are equalizing tax treatment for small business owners and pursuing market-based reforms, such as increasing competition among healthcare providers and insurers, allowing small businesses to band together to negotiate for better rates, and promoting transparency in pricing.

“These economic times call for small-business-friendly policies from Olympia, not more of the same misguided laws and regulations, like those we’ve seen over the past 12 years, that take more and more money out of workers’ pockets and make it harder for our small businesses to be successful,” said Connor.

The typical NFIB member employs between one and nine people and reports gross sales of about $500,000 a year.
