Washington,
DC (March 4, 2016) – The National
Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the nation’s leading
representative of small business owners, is endorsing Rep. John Shimkus (IL-15)
for reelection. Shimkus has a strong record of supporting legislation that
would help small businesses grow and thrive and should be returned to the U.S.
House.
“Congressman
Shimkus is a strong voice for small business in the U.S. House,” said NFIB National Political Director Sharon
Sussin. “As a leader on the Energy and Commerce Committee, the Congressman
has worked to protect small business from heavy-handed federal regulations and
from the destructive effects of Obamacare. Small business needs strong
defenders in Washington and Congressman Shimkus deserves to be reelected to
continue the fight.”
“Small
businesses are the backbone of our economy,” said Shimkus. “I have fought the
President’s attempts to increase the cost of doing business through Obamacare
and other rules and regulations. I have fought for more jobs in Illinois.
I want to reform the tax code, reduce burdensome regulations, and replace
Obamacare in order to make starting and keeping a business open easier.”
Shimkus
qualified for an endorsement from the NFIB by achieving a 100 percent positive
rating on votes scored in the current Congress. The list of scored votes is
available here.
Shimkus’ endorsement
today comes from the NFIB SAFE Trust, the organization’s political action
committee. Small business owners vote in high percentages and they are
influential in their communities.
