Michael Smith Named NFIB Director for Colorado, Wyoming

DENVER (Dec. 16, 2024) – Michael Smith has been named NFIB’s state director for Colorado and Wyoming. With more than 14 years of experience in state government relations, Michael will advocate on behalf of NFIB’s more than 5,700 small business members in Colorado and 1,800 small business owners in Wyoming.

“We’re thrilled to have Michael join our organization,” NFIB Regional State Director Dawn McVea said. “He has devoted his career to public service and advocacy. He understands the important role NFIB plays in ensuring policymakers consider the impact of their decisions on small business owners and promoting policy solutions that will keep both Colorado and Wyoming’s job creators thriving.”

Smith most recently served as the director of state government relations for Gainwell Technologies in Denver. There, he represented the company’s priorities to seven state legislatures and executive branch agencies. Before that, Smith worked as the regional state government relations director at Walgreens.

“I’m proud to become a part of NFIB,” Smith said. “Small businesses are the foundation of our economy. As state director, I look forward to promoting the right of our members to own, operate, and grow their businesses.”
