Suzanne Budge
NFIB/Idaho State Director
NFIB/Idaho State Director Suzanne Budge's legislative experience in Idaho spans two decades. Her father was former State Senator Reed Budge, who represented the Soda Springs area for 20 years and who served as Idaho Senate President Pro Tem. Budge's family has also included a state supreme court justice and a U.S. congressman.
Budge is founder and president of SBS Associates, LLC, a Boise-based governmental affairs firm, whose expertise, in addition to small business, includes health care, natural resources, mining and environmental issues. Prior to founding SBS Associates, Budge served as a principal with The Gallatin Group from 1996 to 2002.
From 1993 to 1996, Budge was a vice president with AIA Universe Insurance group, a Lewiston-based company. In 1989, Budge formed the Idaho Council on Industry and the Environment, a 250-member nonprofit association of businesses, organizations, and individuals united to address the complex environmental issues of the state. She served as its executive director for four years before joining AIA.
Budge received a Bachelor of Science degree in geology from Utah State University in 1980 and two years later, a Master of Science degree in the same study from the Colorado School of Mines. After graduating, she worked as geological intern with Sohio Petroleum, and with the U.S. Geological Survey in Denver and later as a geologist with Houston-based Conoco. After leaving Conoco, she returned home to work for the Idaho Falls-based EG&G, where she coordinated hazardous and nuclear waste remediation projects at the Idaho National Engineering Laboratory. Budge makes her home in Boise.
